Ian is an experienced rural and agricultural economist with a broad range and depth of experience across the rural landscape.

Ian started his career as a sheep farmer in East Sussex before running an open farm at a Rare Breeds Centre. He was a senior member of the Rural Research function at Savills for 20 years before joining Beyond Zero as Head of Economics. This role involves conducting financial appraisals of farms and identifying and securing opportunities through public and private blended finance.

Through our partnership with the Farm Carbon Toolkit, Ian developed Beyond Zero’s carbon audit process ensuring alignment with standards and approval from the UK Carbon Code of Conduct.

He is a member of the Institute of Agricultural Management and the Agricultural Economics Society.

Ian leads Beyond Zero’s carbon and financial accounting, and data analysis.
